Just got my new M96, I assume I need the rest of the cleaning kit, the rod is too short. Also the end of the rod (jag?slot?) seems too tight for the bore, is this normal? Another question, what does the +0.5 designate on the front sight? Thanks in advance for this info. I am going to a local military (slash) gunshow tommoro, any thing I should keep an eye out for?

There is an extension for the cleaning rod. The slotted end on the rod is to clean the chamber only. I am not sure if original cleaning kit can be found, they seems rare item. The front sight come in various height to correct the impact. The M96 sight are graduate for 300 meters minimum so most rifles will shoot quite high at 100 yds. With a taller front sight, the impact will be lowered. That's pretty much all the infos i know about.
Cheers,

You'll need to buy a new, taller front sight blade if you want the gun to hit bulls at 100m. The "+2.0" blade worked perfect on mine. I picked it up for about $25 from the states. Same supplier had additional cleaning kit supplies, to allow you to put together a complete kit. I beleive it was called liberty creek.

Liberty wont ship the swedish Mauser cleaning kit up here because there's somes stripper clip in. Silly but true,i tried to order strippers clips once and got a reply that they cant ship them.... Canadian laws sucks but US can be ridiculous too.

I tried that to and they won't even ship stripper clips to a US address if its for a Canadian buyer, I guess il never get original 7.62x54r stripper clips.
