I've been offered a Swedish Mauser. I know nothing of these rifles. ANY help would be appreciated. Value, what to look for, what to avoid, etc. I am a total noob when it comes to milsurps. Thanks in advance,

-Jason

What to look for is condition, matching bolt, completness, and a good bore.
ie: no bubba jobs.

Very accurate rifles with pleasent recoil.

However Svedes iss boring. You lines up da sights and dey shoots da centre out of da target.

Actualy heard on the BBC.
Swedes are not boring, dey yust do boring tings!;)

I have no idea of Canadian pricing, so no help there.

take pictures, serial numbers on all parts, any writings on the receiver post them here and these wonderful guys will most likely tell you the color eyes the first issue owner had..... Seriously....

It is most likely a Model 96 or a model 38.

96 has a 29 inch barrel and the 38 is 24"(I think). They are awesome shooters. Post pics here if you can and you will get lots more info.

I wouldn't pay more than $300 used. $350 at retail. LOTS of these around, so hold out for a perfect bore and matching numbers on every part.

I am surprised Calum that you did not yet again show off your blonde swedish beauty :dancingbanana:

If there is ever a thread for homely swedes, I will have a candidate

Perhaps Pics by Candle light...:D
I'd still be interested in seeing your Swede. :)

I'm not sure of the model. I'll find out Monday night or so. I'm just looking for advice on telltale signs of a good milsurp over a bad one. I'd like one in full original wood, but what do I look for? How can I tell if the sights are original? Could someone post pics of their swedes to give me some ideas. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the advice,

-Jason
