Can someone measure the sear on the cocking piece on a Husky M38 6.5 x 55 cocking piece for me please. I need the total length of the sear on the bottom of the cocking piece that the trigger engages, and the distance from the end of this sear to the cocking piece . I am having trouble with installing a safety and think a previous owner may have filed the sear , shortening it.
thanks
Pete

While resting, the sear should project about .110" to .120" above the receiver's slot bottom. Sear engagment should be around 0.075" and the cocking piece mating surface should project at least 0.090"
Trigger pull should not be less than 3 1/2 lbs.

Thank you very much.
What I am measuring is a total length of the sear at .700".
From the end of the sear to the end of the bolt sleeve is .055"{sear is recessed into slot in sleeve}
Sleeve is 1.446" long .
For the Timney safety to engage the cocking piece needs to pulled back .975", but when I #### it normally with the bolt in the receiver it only comes back .900.
{The .975 and .900 measurement is taken from the safety assembly screw in the safety lever to the front side of the cocking piece.} I need another .075" travel of the cocking piece by closing the bolt.
The only way I can see to get a longer stroke on the cocking piece is to have that sear longer by .075"

Well, first, we need to know which Timney trigger you bought. Some simply don't work with some guns, even if they say "Mauser".

Then, the only way to measure what you have is by the method I gave you above.

The way a flag safety trigger is set in the Mauser world is by meauring the "gap" between the sear and the mating surface of the cocking piece and this gap should be 0.020" when the safety is fully engaged.
