I am looking for some budget optics for a budget build I have going on with an old Remington 700, I was looking at the SWFA SS because apparently they were supposed to be built for the U.S. navy and passed all there tests with flying colours. They are really inexpensive and are assembled by Tasco from what I was told. This is what has me a bit worried about build quality etc.

If there is anyone out there with some experience with them I would like to hear from you

Thanks in advance

They have nothing to do with Tasco since SWFA bought the rights to the scope. Experience will be slim as they are pretty rare in Canada as SWFA will not export them out of the U.S.

When Tasco built them they were good Now there are issues with some off them I have the Tasco ones

I really like the build and clarity of my SuperSniper scope. I bought it off someone here on the EE but they cannot be legally exported out of the US these days so if you want one, you'll have to find a used one already on this side of the border.

Been cranking and shooting the liv'n daylights out of my 10x side paralax stupid sniper for a dog's age now. Beaten, dropped, and treated roughly ... it's never failed me.
It holds it's own against all comers out to 1000 or so. Talking regular .7moa cold bore groups at 1K with the 6.5x55 here.
The turrets are absolutely reliable, .. as long as those three turret cap securing grub screws are kept TIGHT against the substantial drag of the navy spec. internal 'O' rings. If allowed to loosen even a smidge, those turrets will slip, and you will lose zero.

Best $400 I ever spent.
Sorry to say OP ... Good luck on getting one exported though.

Very happy with my SS 3-9 FFP.
IMHO, better clarity than my Vortex PST I had.
Can't comment on recoil, it is only mounted on my 10/22 VLEH

If you are close to a border crossing just get a post box on the US side and have it shipped there, then simply go pick it up and declare it.

And you would be breaking US regulations by doing so. Not a good idea and not a good idea to be suggesting to others to do so.

They would know that your using a Canadian credit card and would be surprised if they shipped it even to a U.S. address. Brownells won't.

My father-in-law has a couple he got off the EE, and they're GREAT. I know there is a thread working on getting a bunch imported... Hopefully IRG or another company will be able to facilitate this!!

How are some of you guys getting them over here? I've seen a few on ebay but only one or two guys are even up for trying to send them by package... they're a real scarcity, and by *real* US snipers and ex snipers considered the best value for the money, one guy told me it's better then a Leupold MK4 at 1/4-1/3 of the price... any other sites you guys know of that will export them or ship them?
