I picked up 2 SWG marked Olympic Arms lowers (model: CAR-AR). I'm having problems putting my uppers onto these lowers. I have a Norinco CQ 5.56 a Norinco 311 and a CMMG upper (on a Armalite lower). NONE of these uppers will fit onto either of the SWG Olympic Arms lowers.

With the front takedown pin engaged, the upper cannot rotate around the pin. It seems to bind against the upper. If I try to put the upper on flush so that I try to engage both pins at the same time, neither of them will engage.

Any tips/hints/suggestions?

please and thanks
Allan!

Might be necessary to fit the lower in the hinge area until the upper can rotate properly. Once you've done that, it might be necessary to do more fitting until the rear pin can be latched.
If you have an Armalite lower, why do you want to replace it with an Olympic?

when you say "fit the lower in the hinge area" what exactly do you mean? ... dremel?

i don't want to replace... just adding to my stable of safe queens. I was just under the assumption that all uppers should fit on all lowers? I just found it weird that I couldn't put my existing uppers on the new lowers

Forget the Dremel.
You will have to determine where the lower is interfering with the upper, and carefully file the lower until the upper will fit. It will likely be the knuckle of the upper making contact with the lower in the area between the lugs.
Once the foreward pin is inserted, and the upper is pivotting freely, you will have to determine why the upper will not close far enough to allow the rear pin to be pushed through.
It might be necessary to file a bit off the top flat of the lower, and/or to run a reamer through the rear takedown pin hole.
Might be possible to fit the halves together so that you achieve a firm, no wiggle assembly.
I've done one of these, and the above basically describes what I did.
And no bloody Dremel.
