Any one hunt or shoot in that area . Heard of some hunting and shooting going on there from a local . But , also heard same day that OPP patrol that area regularily ??. No real reasons given , Dude just said make sure your legit what ever your doing and have paper work . Is this an area to stay away from ?????

Do yourself a huge favor and totally stay away from the that whole area. It is inundated with every A$$hole from Toronto that owns a gun or any other piece of motorized equipment that he or she is attempting to kill themselves on. Hence why you heard the OPP and the CO's make frequent patrols there, it's because they do a wonderful business in that area.
I hunted up the Swift Road once or twice a fall back in the 70's. You would see absolutely no one. My wife and I took a little nostalgic drive up the Swift Road about 5 years ago. It was hard to believe what we seen. Basically it has become a haven for drunken red necks from the city. People camped all over. ATV's, UTV's, Dirt Bikes, Rock climbing jeeps, folks with guns doing a little target practice. Drinking is a huge part of the activities. If this is what your looking for then this is where you want to be. If not stay well clear.

I lived in the southern Georgian Bay area for 41 years so I know of what I speak.

Hmmm, sounds like that place here in BC sadly nick-named Little Iraq.

I have been down that road camping a few times so not hunting related. One time we came down to see a guy ina truck doing a burnout with his tires pointed to the car and it left a few chips in the car. Other then that it's been ok but theres always stories about that place. I'd find somewhere else to go.

The place is a disgusting mess. It's the kind of place that will give hunters a bad name. The Torontonian elmer fuddery is strong in that place. It's a real shame too because it is a nice swath of land. Every punk with a atv, sKS, and a case of beer hits that place hard.
Give it a try but be careful.

Your really your going to do your home work to find a hidy hole of crown land in the Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Parry Sound, Huntsville areas. All those areas are within easy commute to Toronto so many city folks have bought up houses, cottages, and vacant land in those areas. Your going to have to acquire maps that show which lands are private and which are crown. Try Township Municipal offices etc. for map info. The Town of Huntsville for example encompasses a huge land mass and going to there town office will get you info on surrounding lands. I had 800 acres NW of Huntsville and that's the big issue we had with trespassers is that the majority of them thought they were on crown land. Your going to be dealing with bambi loving city folks and locals who are very protective of there property. Good luck, your going to need some.

I took a drive an checked the road trail out . A lot of road side to 50 feet in , camp and trash sites 12 ga 308 22lr and 9 mm 7.62 casings every where . But that mentality doesn't usually go too far off a path . I seen a bunch , like 8.... 10 .. spots where a suv and trailer could easily be pulled 50 - 60 ft off the road and with drop sheet , be easily cammo,ed . Then atv or hike in to a spot . On maps that piece of land looks pretty big

I'm from the area and there is a lot of crown up the swift but I don't bother going. There are always people there messing around with guns, atvs, booze, etc. I know a guy who hunts waterfowl there occasionally but he goes during the week. This week is the controlled hunt for deer and WMU 76A is shotgun, muzzle loader and rifle zone.

You could hike in if you wanted. I think that once you get farther from the easy access, it's likely safer.
