ok picked up a bubba condition 1911 str--8 pull rifle.
needs a magazine ( either 6 or 12 shot, wich ever is most correct. )
needs a stock ( current one was chopped off. short)
numbers seem to all match from my lookin at it. its either a 96/11 or a 1911 rifle. i think?
barrel isnt chopped off, its 30+ inches, action lenth is about 9.5 inch , it has the big ski-jump rear site.
any info or source fer patrs/magazine/stock welcomed.
i got pics but never have figured out how to post so if requested could send a few out.
thanks in advance. :dancingbanana:

Posting pictures is easy - just use http://imageshack.us/. If it doesn't work for you, send the pictures to me and I'll post them.

The only thing I know about Swiss rifles is what an old guy who used to be an armourer in the Swiss army told me - that when they surplused these rifles, they sold them on the open market for $1 each. If only I could have been there I'd have bought at least two of them.

Magazines for this model are a little hard to find and expensive. Try Guisan on the Swiss rifles forum on Gunboards.com He has a collector's service for some spare parts, cleaning kits, magazines, etc. Also talk with Hawkster on the Swiss rifles forum same gunboard. John Sukey may be able to help as well. The 1889 does not use GP11 ammunition, its about a half millimeter too long and is too pwoerful for the long, rear locking bolt. Modified (trimmed ) 7.5 x55 works fine and a heavy bullet, say 200-220 grains. Joe
