I've been interested in getting into service rifle, and the gun I was thinking of using is my Swiss Arms Carbine with the 14.3 inch barrel. I know a longer barrel is going to give me better accuracy at long range. But, I have some chronic problems with tendonitis in my shoulder (on the arm I use to support the front of the rifle when shooting from a standing position). Just my luck that rifle shooting seems to aggravate it. But, the problem is a lot worse when I shoot my longer heavier rifles (e.g. HK G36P
or my Swiss Arms black special).
Finally, the question..... is the 14.3 simply too short to be an effective gun for service rifle? I had also considered get the 17.9 SAN carbine instead.
