Hi I have a question. Im looking at buying a swiss arms black special and Elcan specterdr 1.5-6x sight. I was hoping to pick up one with the diopter iron sights, and buy the picatinny rail for it. Has anyone used this combo? im wondering if the elcan will clear the rear sight? If So how is the cheek wield. And What Mount did you use? theres a few available from swiss arms. Thanks so much! Andrew from BC

If you use the swiss B&T rail the Elcan will clear the rear sight (ordered mine from Wolverine Supply) , but the cheek wield is not so great , you can get a cheek riser but the swiss one is $300 . the airsoft one works for $30 (i bought mine from can am) .. optics sit much lower with the flattop model but the sweet military iron night sights are too good not to have ,

I don't have a Swiss Arms but if I were you I'd try out that combo before buying. I find eye relief to be short on a regular Elcan, don't know about the Spectre. I have to have mine so far back that mounting a BUIS isn't possible. On the C9A2, where the iron sight is mounted, the scope sits so far forward that getting a proper sight picture is actually impossible.

I have a Elcan DR1.5x6 and a B&T mount on my Green Classic and the combo is perfect. I do recommend the Cheek Peice and while the airsoft copy works the Swiss Arms one fits properly and is worth the extra. I also have a Elcan DR 1x4 on my Swiss Arms Carbine alos with a B&T mount. Excellent but I like the extra magnification on the other better but bot work great. Rigrat

The eye relief on both the C79 and Specter DR should be 70mm.

I had an ACOG TA31F on my Classic Green, and decided to move to a different sight because of the short eye relief. The eye relief is somewhat (about 1") shorter on the ACOG, so it might not be as bad as the ELCAN, but it's a far cry from the 3.9" on something like the 1-4x24 Vortex Razor HD (which I currently have on my Swiss Arms).

Maybe i'm missing something but your math doesn't quite match up.

Are you saying that the elcan has worse eye relief than the Acog even tho the acog has shorter eye relief by about 1 inch?

If the Elcan is 70 mm (or 2.8") and the Acog is 1 inch shorter that would make the following reliefs:

Acog 1.8"
Elcan 2.8"
Vortex 3.9"

Just curious, I'm wanting a Swiss with elcan as well.

It depends on what ACOG. For example, the 4x models (TA01/TA31/RCO etc.) are all 1.5" eye relief while the 3.5x models (TA11) have 2.4" and are more comparable to Elcans sights.

Oops, I misspoke. I meant to say the ELCAN wouldn't be as bad as the ACOG.

The old C79 Elcan's eye relief is crap (It's a helmet rest).

The TA11 series Acog's eye relief is actually over 3" in real life. More than the advertised 2.4" It is what Die Polizei use on their 551's for good reason. I love mine it is very quick to get on target from any field position and I can easily hit out to 600 yards with it even though it is only 3.5X

I hear the new Specter is a good optic but have never seen one. Hope this helps.
