Swiss Arms Barrel life

The Sig550 Sniper barrels are $845ea. Twist rate is 1/10"
The 14.3" and 17.9" barrels I am waiting to hear from our SAN rep.

You're lucky you got those barrels at that price when you did, Beltfed. That's well below our cost on those items (at least now).

TSE Justin, I'm assuming you're in the KNOW as you deal these rifles, etc. That being said, does the claim by another CGNer in this thread true about the accuracy not being all that worth it compared to the already accurate regular barrels on these rifles? What is your company's cost installed? I see another fellow CGNer selling stocks and pistol grips ... along with a heavy barrel would complete a sniper version. I await your reply and thank you in advance,

p.s. I got my swiss arms 223 for a song and dance ... so spending some more $$$ on her to make her more accurate and sweet is not a big deal on my part ... ;) :D

If I was looking for a HB with accuracy to exceed that of the factory offerings, I'd look to a Krieger and get a local Canadian smith to do the work (I think "MrSmithy"? has done this already with a 18.5" barrel on a carbine)

I did it. The first barrel used was a Green Mountain blank with just a parkerized finish and detachable SEI Vortex (pictured below).

The latest will be a Lothar Walther.

With the newer barrel, I am having the flash hider machined as an integral part so it can count toward the overall length. As well, I want to try a salt bath nitride process, that will be applied inside and out. This will harden the bore and exterior, and effectively double the barrel life. Finish is like the slide of a Glock.

Contact Herron Arms for info.

Right, sorry for the mix-up.
How is the Green Mountain barrel shooting for you?

Herron does excellent work for sure, and since they have the profiling of the barrel already done up, I would imagine costs should be less than going with another smith.

And what is the weight of the rifle now with the heavier barrel?

Mine is not a heavy barrel. It's thin under the hand guard and the weight is comparable to the factory 17.9" carbine. I suppose you could make it as think as you want under the guards, but forward of the gas block is as thick as it gets due to the gas cylinder.
