The only person I know who regularly shoots a 552 in full auto is RichLPS. Maybe he has some insight.

That's cause he can't hit anything on single shot. Has to spray and pray to get something on target.
You don't have to be hit by rounds to respect them. Putting lots down range keeps heads down.
The SG552 is one of the most controllable select fire weapons I've ever used. I've compared side by side with a HK416, Colt M4, Colt M16 and HK G36K. SG552 beat them all hands down. I haven't shot the SG553 on Full Auto but on Semi Auto there doesn't seem to be any difference to the SG552. I trust they will be the same.

I've tried the SG550 and SG551 on full auto extensively and didn't find the same results as you did, way more controllable and smoother function than a M16. Muzzle came back down to target and tracked on bursts much easier than the M16. Down side is they are heavier, especially up front which is one of the reasons why they are much more controllable.
