Anybody knows any "dirty" secrets how to modify the Swiss Arms magwell to take LAR-15 10 rd. mags - I mean, if it's possible at all?

Other than that, is there any legal (or semi-legal) way to shoot 10 rds. from Swiss Arms rifles without changing the magazine?

And the last question: has anybody tried those Chinese made Swiss Arms mags sold by CanadaAmmo? How do they work? What's the jam percentage (if any)?

How about a sleeve to go on top of the mag and rocks it into place like the standard swiss mags?

Something like the mag adapter that goes on top of ar mags for the SL8.

Yes, that would work, but you would have to have the sleeve come in and out with the mag. There is no room for an adapter a la the galil.
 
Perhaps someone should start manufacturing magazines for the Swiss Arms Advance and marking them as such. My guess is that they'd sell like wildfire.

I have been through this with another board member. I have yet to see a unique magazine for the advance, and SA states they use 550 mags. If you can find a unique mag, we will make it.
 
Get sig 556 lower and either grind your bolt or get a 556 bolt.

Oh and you will need a new butt stock

Now for the hard part after you come up with the 1000 bucks to do this. Im not sure how customs handles these parts or if the US will even allow them to be exported. I do know its been done but a little sketchy on how.

Just make sure you research, everthing should fit but it never hurts to double check.



The really funny part about this. Guys in the states with 556s order the lowers to accept the Swiss Arms Mags.

The SIG 556 lower is completely compatible with the Swiss Arms upper. No need for a 556 bolt group (see my picture above), please don't grind anything on your swiss Rifle..

Swap and go.

I found a shop out west that had 3 of these lowers a while back, I now own them all (waiting for 2 more rifles to put them on).


Guys in the US do like the swiss lowers over the 556. All things being equal (magazine capacity), the Swiss mags are a much better design reliability-wise, and the swiss lower is built better. The 556 lower is machined from billet aluminum, but is missing the raw strength of the steel SAN lower. The only advantage of the SIG lower is here in Canada you can use 10-rnd mags.

The bottom line is that people always want what they can't have, in the US it's the SAN parts, in Canada it's SIG parts.

I guess I was mis informed I had read somewhere there was a slight difference in the bolts. This is good to know. If you come across any more of those sig 556 lowers that you don't want to snap up I'd likely be interested, provided it happens to be a month I didn't just piss all my excess cash away.

What's this "excess cash" you speak of? ;)
 
I know I'm late to the party here but i was just wondering what Magazine material everyone is running if there running the Chinese mags. Any practical difference.
