The Shooting Edge here in Calgary sells the SHR 970 rifles with heavy fluted barrel, McMillan stock and a Near rail on it for $2000. I can't find anything on this rifle on the web. Does any one own one of these? How accurate is it? Any information would be aprreciated, thanks.

I had one in 300 win mag. Really nice gun, shot well. With of federal fusion hunting ammo I could get 3/4 inch groups no problem. The reason I sold mine is because I like to mess with my guns to much. Adjust this, bed that, balh blah. If you want a greate "out of box gun" that you will never do anything to, great gun. If you want to mess with it and make it your own and mess with this and that. Not the gun for you. I had some good handloads and it would shoot half moa, even had a few really amazing groups. Swiss arms makes good stuff, but the more I got into shooting and stuff, the more I wanted to tweak certain things and really couldn't.

The SHR (Swiis Hunting Rifle) and STR (Swiss Tactical Rifle) are the same actions with variried stocks and variations in barrels (lengths, rate of twist, and on certian models an integral flash suppressor). The STR came outfitted the same as the the SHR model on TSE. The best link that I have been able to find on the so far has only given me a PDF version of the SHR owners manual. I haven't been able to find anything decent info for awhile. As an owner of the hunting rifle in .300WM I can tell you they are very accurate but harder to modify as there are very few manufacturers who make parts for them.

Yup, great rifles.
I have one in .308 and 6.5x55SE.
One gun, two calibers, with the interchangable
barrel design. The action is the smoothest I have
ever felt. It seems like the bolt glides on linear bearings.
If ur near Calgary, I'll let you test drive mine if you like.

From my understanding, the edge has stocked up on a crap load of barrels and other parts for them. I think even though they have discontinued the rifle they are still required to make parts for a certain number of years or something.

They're a pretty damned respectable rifle. I shot this 3 shot group with Big Doug's 300 WM at 860 meters. Topped with a Bushnell 10x. The buff didn't stand a chance!

I have a Sig SHR in .270 and it is my favorite rifle.

My father tried and tried again to "acquire" it from me but failed miserably. For fathers day a few years back me and my brother pooled in and got him one, also in .270. TSE had a few spare mags last Christmas, which he received in his stocking.

Get one, smooth bolt, excellent trigger and damn accurate :)
