I have a target model, and I've set mine up with the cheek riser.
Use of the cheek riser can be preferable as it lifts the cheek higher for prone shooting (less strain of the neck). The cheek riser will require the scope to be raised to the same height as an AR - so a scope mount such as the ADM recon or Larue offerings will be perfect - which is a type of scope mount you'll likely need anyhow to properly set typical scopes and the eye relief on the short purchase space of the rail (either the aftermarket type or the integrated rail of the target model).
Another advantage of most purpose-built scope mounts is the fact they are far more stream-lined construction wise around the rail interface, unlike alot of standard rings which can be quite 'blocky'. This is readily aparent when operating the cocking handle.
I believe there are still a number of 1:7 twist 'Classic Greens' floating around - a twist rate that is far more preferable than the standard 1:10, which the 'Black Specials' come with. As a bonus, you'll get the rear drum appeture sight as well.
