Does anyone know of a way to add a proper set of BUIS to a Swiss Black Target Special? It would be easy enough to mount the rear sight to the rail provided on the the receiver, but how about the front? Or would it simply be cheaper and easier to trade for the standard model? I've had the gun for a few years now and I'm starting to regret choosing the target model over the standard. Thanks in advance for any help/info.

I would just sell the target model and get a standard Classic Green or Black Special if not totally happy with the flat top. Or better yet, just buy another. :D

If you look around, especially in the States, there are lots of options for a front sight for a top rail. They are mostly made for the AR platform but will work great on your rifle.

That's the problem, there is no top rail at the front end. The rail on the target special extends only to the front end of the receiver, roughly eight inches long. The front sight mounts on the gas block, and I now see in the SA-stripped-down thread here that the regular sight seems to mount the same way as the tiny target front sight. I'll have to see if I can order the unit and have my 'smith swap them.

add a B&T quad rail fore-end, and you will have one coninuous rail all the same height.

There might be something from Aurora Industries in the US, which they designed it for the SG556.

Don't think swiss arms make any, at least commerically available.

I know that there are sights supplied on the rifle, but a "proper set", to my way of thinking, means something much more rugged and easily adjustable than a wafer thin piece of steel, standing totally unsupported, that requires loosening a screw and blindly sliding a tiny aperture up and down.

Thanks guys, I have seen several good alternatives for the rear sight...it's the front one that I am inquiring about.

BTW, thanks Greentips, that company (Aurora Industries) shows exactly what I want on their website. They sell a picatinny-mount rear that looks identical to the Sig standard sight, and also show a front to match that they claim will be in production and available soon. US $285 for the set. I have already contacted them about shipping to Canada. Thanks again.
