i was wondering what rates of twist you were all running ? i think they come on 1:7 and 1:10? i was thinking of getting a rifle and was thinking of getting the 1:10 twist if possible so i could shoot lighter bullets but is there anything i should watch out for?

How do you tell the twist rate on the Swiss rifles? Is there any markings to go by?

Not that I know of. I've never seen any markings on mine. I think that it's one of those things that is mentioned when you buy the rifle. 90% of the time they are in 1 in 10, if it's 1 in 7, than chances are the dealer/person will specifically mention.

Yeah they had a Green Classic at P&D a few months ago, I didn't see anything stating it was a 1:7 on the barrel etc.. but like you said, the dealer specified it was.

Most European made guns use an angle to identify twist ( Drall in Swiss) like a 1-10" 7.62 is about 8.4 deg. 1-10" in a smaller caliber would have a lesser angle. Don't know if the angles are stamped on the barrel or not but are spelled out in the specs.

My Swiss Arms SG 550 has a 1:7 twist. It runs ok with 62 grain rounds. It does shoot a bit better with the 69's and 77's, but those don't fall within the Service Rifle rules here.

Amazing this question keeps popping up.

From what I have seen and heard from others in the know in Europe, the 1 in 7 twist barrels are threaded inside the flash hidder for a BFA to be screwed in. The BFA in question is made by Swiss Arms and is not Swiss issue. As a result, the 1 in 10 twist barrels are not treaded inside the flash hidder.
