Im tossing up the idea of adding one to my collection and was wondering if some people can let me know the difference in some of the models. Im wanting a non restricted so the CQ rifles arent a option. So what s the difference between the Classic Green, Black Special and other non restricted SA's?? What can a guy expect for accuarcy?

Cheers!!

They are very accurate out of the box, no debate. The most accurate - much debate.

They is only a 20" and 26" sniper (at twice the price) in non restricted.

The black and green ones are common the other colours are as rare as a double rainbow...

What kind of accuracy can one expect form these using handloads? I read one review here on the forum and the guys was getting 3" groups, seems a bit loose for a 3k rifle.

Cheers!!

Factory acceptance is 10 shots at 300m into a 11cm square with Swiss service ammo. That equates to about 1.25 MOA. So there should not be any out there doing worse ( with Swiss service ammo). The kicker here is that the Swiss only have this standard for the 1 in 10" barrels. For those wanting 1 in 7" twist there is no such guarantee.

I have one of the 1:7 black special flattops that cie imported. If you want to shoot heavier rounds, like 69+ grains, then you should seek a 1:7. Otherwise, for 55 and 62, you are better served by the 1:10 twist that is common.

I like the long range characteristics of the heavier bullets, so it was a no brainer for me in a full size rifle to go for the 1:7.

I get ~2 MOA using 55gr Winchester White Box. Using handloads, I imagine you could get down to 1 MOA.

I have a Classic Green with a 20 inch barrel with a 1 in 7 twist. I have loaded up various bullet weights with 3-4 different powders. 800 rounds over all and the best i could get was 1.5 MOA. I hear from TSE all you can expect is 1.5 MOA out of these rifles because they do no have a free floating barrel. Mine was not new so i am not sure how many rounds were already down the barrel but they say the barrels should last forever.. Just my experience...

BTW.. i do have a savage bolt gun where i developed a load for it which is just under 0.25 MOA..(which i shot a 1000 yd match with) so i do have some experience loading for rifles.

So the Classic Green and Black Special that have no rail on top is there an adapter to mount scopes on or after market rails to mount??
Any specs on OAL and weight of these?

Cheers!!

Yes there are a few different ones that use the factory scope "lugs" on the one with fixed iron sights.

B&T makes one, as well as some other German company, and another one from some American company? (I think).

The B&T is the most common, but they are pretty pricey.

If you are SPECIFICALLY going to be mounting a scope, I would go with a flat-top model, as they have an integral top rail, and flip up "backup" sights.

I own a CQB, but I believe the actions are all the same.

Simply put, an out-of-the-box SwissArms has a trigger which is a work of art. No appreciable creep and a decent pull at a crisp 6lbs. The action on this rifle puts all my AR's to shame.

There is an Alberta company called Kyle Precision thst makes scope bases for the Swiss Arms. TSE sells them. They are made of Steel and heavy but indestructable. I'd like to find an aluminum one.

I'm a fan of the SA rifles, I am not however a fan of the rifle length gas system. The SA is pretty heavy to begin with and I find the full length to be a bit much for a 5.56 gun. Thats just me, everyone uses their gun differently etc. I just don't like the NR versions as they are sold now, I want a rifle that points faster. The 14" example is hot hot ### though.
