Anyone else impressed with Swiss K31 Accuracy? I had my third K31 to range today and they are without a doubt the most accurate milsurp rifles i ever owned/shot. Every time to the range I`m impressed.
 
For crying out loud, would you guys knock it off with the accolades for the K31!:mad:

I have enough trouble acquiring and affording the ammo for the milsurps I already own.:rolleyes:

I don't need another caliber, I don't need another caliber, I don't need another caliber...:runaway:

I will agree they are consistently accurate. I wouldn't go so far as to say they are the "most accurate" I ever owned though.

I have a 1950 Longbranch No4 MkI* that will shoot handloads consistently into an inch or less and will do the same with the Greek surplus I picked up 15 years ago.

I also have a Faz No4 MkII that will duplicate those results. I would be hard pressed to say which is the most accurate.

I have a couple of M98 Mausers, some M91, M93, M95 and M96 Mausers that will keep up to any K31. There is also the Breda M1 Garand that shoots into 1 1/2 inch with ammo it likes.

The 7.7 Jap, 6.5 Carcano, 1915 Berthier, M36 and the Finn Mosin are contenders in the accuracy department as well.

What it all really boils down to, is that all of these rifles are in excellent condition. At least on the inside and most on the outside as well.

I haven't had the opportunity to see a K31 with a worn bore. I would suspect that when they start to show up on the surplus markets, they won't shoot any better than many of the other milsurps we own in similar condition.

A good example of what I'm talking about are some of the late import, 6.5 Swede, M38 and M96 rifles. Some of them have only poor to fair bores. They certainly don't live up to the reputation of the early imports.

It's all relavent.
 
Agree...so far

I own a K31 but have the pleasure of shooting 3 different ones on a regular basis. I will say consistent accuracy is a good description. Definetly my favorite milsurp to fire, although my 'new' 6.5x55 SM fitted with Elite diopter has been REALLY impressing me. Now I just cant wait to get my Pierre ST.Marie diopter for the K, then we will see which of my two is the more accurate shooter. ;)

Just take up reloading and then you will be able to buy all the oddball calibre rifles you like and shoot twice as much for the same price.

BTW, my K31 is a very nice shooting rifle that I really enjoy using. Sweet trigger (for a milsurp), shoots a bit over 1" at 100yds with a couple different loads so far and has a very smooth, precision machine feel to the action. :stirthepot2: :nest:

I have always been a LongBranch No4 MkI man ever since I was a kid.

I was introduced to K 31's about 20 years ago.
I used to shoot with the Swiss Rifle Club out of Toronto.

K 31's are one of the finest and most accurate milsurps that I have ever owned.

I have four, ah, maybe five now.

Just like a Swiss watches.

Take a look at the following from one of the forum sponsors:

You'll need to get rings designed to fit a .22 dovetail (Millet steel .22 dovetail rings work fine), and will still be able to use the open sigts with it. At $75 plus shipping it's a reasonably affordable option.

I haven't put mine onto one of my K31s yet but hope to try her out next spring.
 
My Swedish Husqvarna M38 will edge out my K31 in accuracy .. they both are very high quality have pristine bores, great triggers, great sights, but the 6.5x55 cartridge shoots like a laser beam. All and all my Swedish and Swiss rifles are my most accurate milsurp bolt guns , but i do have a SA M1 garand with a minty Danish barrel, with handloads it will give any milsurp bolt gun a run for its money ..

Yeah, I do, but I honestly don't need another caliber to load for.

Actually, I haven't even started loading for the calibers I already have, yet I have all the supplies.:redface:

If I did get one more caliber, it would be 9.3x62mm anyways.

Thats great! which one do you have? how was installing it? how about accuracy, did you notice a worthy improvement over the stock sights? Im pulling the trigger on a set very soon!
(I was going to order a set this week, but rather I ordered another K31 instead....f:P:2:)

Must be rich to buy factory loads for everything.
IMHO, besides GP11, most surplus ammo is not worth shooting if your looking for decent accuracy. Neither is a lot of the factory ammo either for that matter.

My take on reloading is it is a necessary evil that enables me to shoot more often. 9.3 is fun. Have a 9.3x57

I had to give up sleeping on sacks of money.

It just got too painful on my back.:(

Seriously though, I've been hoarding ammo more than shooting lately.

I would have liked to have scooped up some more; 7x57mm, 7.92x57mm, and .303 British when I had the chance though.

I'm really kicking myself for missing out on the Greek surplus .303 British when it was; cheap, plentiful, and available.

Does the tradex scope mount sit above bore or to the side of bore? or does it sit very high that as you say a person can use open sights still.
