I was watching a Belgian TV cop show series last night and the bad guy had a take-down sniper rifle based a Swiss K31.

It had a target rifle stock with butt hook, big hunting rifle type scope on it and a stainless steel take-down barrel that screwed into place.

Has there ever been such a thing in the real world or was this a TV props department armourer's wet dream?

The issued Swiss K31's during the WWII era appear like standard issue K31's, but with small, low magnification scopes along the left side of the receiver. Similar to the US M1C/M1D, but only in concept, not design....the Swiss snipers actually hold a zero while being comfortable to shoot.....

THE Swiss sniping rifle is a dedicated rifle based on a modified K31 action rotated in the stock to allow the vertical charging using the old paper and tin chargers. It is called the ZfK55. It also has a built-in bipod, different stock and a cumbersome muzzle brake. It is equipped with a Kern scope of 3.5 power - see - http://www.forgottenweapons.com/sniper-rifles/swiss-zfk-55/

The Swiss ZfK-55 is a different rifle than the WWII era K31/43. Both are great rifles, but the ZfK-55 is more user friendly.

The only K31/43 scopes I've looked through were so cloudy as to render them next to useless. Mind you, that's only around a dozen or so. They CAN be refurbed, but the cost is truly horrendous, even in CH.
