A few weeks ago I read a thread regarding someone finding a piece of paper with a name and other credentials under his k31 swiss rifles butt plate. Thought that was really interesting so I decided to break mine out of the safe and have a look. What do you know! I found something similar...but I cant really pick much out of the script. Is this a common thing to find on old battle rifles? Ill post a picture later...see if you guys can decipher it better than I can.

It's pretty common on Swiss rifles, most other countries I haven't really heard of it being done.

It's common on these K31 rifles, but doesn't make it any less interesting / awesome 
some people have even tracked back to the family / person the rifle was issued to using the cards

I did eventually track down the soldier's son.
Unfortunately, Jacob had died only a few months ago.
I really wanted to let him know that his rifle is safe and well cared for, not crushed and smelted.
