If this would be better off somewhere not Milsurp the mods can feel free to move this thread.
I have a previously sporterised Swede M38 in 6.5x55 that bubba really did a hack job on the stock and drilled and tapped for some kind of scope mount. Since it's already been altered, i was thinking a nice aftermarket stock would be better for it than trying to find an original stock.
My question is, will any mauser 96 stock fit the M38, or are the different enough dimensionally to make them not fit?
Has anyone had success with a particular type/brand of stock for a swede with minimal work requred? I'm not 100% confident in my abilities to get a stock that needs a lot of inletting or other work to make it fit, so i would like it as close to drop in as possible.
Any suggestions, or even advice on what to stay away from would be appreciated.
