After years of collecting swiss army gear, I finally got my hands on a k31. So happy to finally have it, only one range trip so far with ten rounds. I did manage 4 inch groups.

I picked out and found one at a fair. I've never come accross a foldable shovel built like this.

Swiss M43 daggers are nice.

As for the KAPPENSPATEN, nice find too.

I think they were not used anymore in 70s or 80s. A gentlemen told me that because the rather pointy sheath, it punctured holes into the upholstered seats that the officers frequented. Probably a myth, but funny

No. They can't. Only after finishing the mandatory time they may purchase their personal weapon, which is the pistol. They may keep a SIG 550 at home, but only on loan.

Depends on their rank. If they were private's or NCO's who's issued weapon is a rifle, then yes.
Getting it converted to semiauto only costs 100 swiss francs, though.

I understand your relatives were officers? Or did I get that wrong?

They were privates. Apologies, I didn't realize there was a difference in the way officers and privates were presented with their weapons.
