No. This 1869 is in too good condition to convert. Best left as an antique.
Just missing the loading gate cover that was only only 1869 and not on the models from 1869/71 onwards.

Understandably you do not wish to alter yours to centerfire. Keep you eyes open for parts, or a scapper grade rifle. All you need is the bolt body.

The Italian adopted the Vetterli as the M1870 Italian Vetterli.

The Italian cartridge was for all intensive purposes a center fire version of the Swiss cartridge.

I have one...that has been cut down...sporter....sort of...lol still long. I have one round of 44rf for it , I have never fired it. I did buy the centerfire brass 8mm if I remember right, dies and molds for pouring the lead, just have never( and probably will never) get around to doing the centerfire conversion . Well built rifle, I like the lifting/ elevator that is used to bring the shell up from the mag tube, interesting ,piece of art.
Enjoy
Brian

Fireforming 8mm Lebel to 10.4x38 chamber.

I trim to 42mm so I can use shorter pistol bullets and still be able to feed from mag.

Yes it’s 41cal... been working on a 44 cal the last little while...must be stuck in my head, lol

It's .41 caliber.
Not a 41 caliber.
The Europeans measure the smallest diameter , land to land which is where 41 caliber comes from.
North Americans measure from groove to groove which is larger which is 0.430 so called 44 caliber bullets. I have four changed to center fire. I either use 44 rem mag bullets or 43 Mauser bullets sized to 0.430.
Do direct conversion of 7.62 and 308. Everyone knows it’s the same caliber, but they don’t equal when convert from metric to standard. All in how the bore is measured. 0.410 bullets are too small.
