SwissArms - Stupid newbie question

Hi all, I am planning on getting a Swiss Arms Black Special. I just love the look of this rifle. I had read a few rumours here and there about possible reclassification. They are probably just people trolling but has anyone heard this? What would be the result? Anyone have any insight? I know predicting what the RCMP will do is like herding cats.

I am not trolling or anything. I am new and just curious. I really want a non-restricted rifle that looks as cool as the swiss arms and is as well made. I don't mind paying the 3500 if i can actually use it.

Rumors, rumors, rumors... First of all, it's the Federal Government that classify a firearm, not the RCMP, and the CPC wouldn't dare piss off their core supporters by prohibiting things. However, the RCMP have been known to lobby.

That said, if the RCMP didn't push to reclassify the PE90 10-years ago under Cretein (with Cotler and Rock behind the guncontrol reins), it's highly unlikey they'll be bothered with it now. Besides, there's much more optically nefarious stuff out there in the VZ58 and Tavor.

For now I would say the risk is low. When the Libs are next in power (shudder), the possibility of a new OIC making the rifle prohibited will be very real.

The RCMP and CPC are claiming that the current "re-classifications" are not re-classifications but are fixing a mistaken classification. This is pure bull#### semantics but the Swiss Arms wouldn't fall into this bureaucratic nightmare at this time.

They pushed for the rifle that was sold at the time to be prohib'd the 550. Swiss Arms resurrected an old design to beat the Canadian BS laws. If the 540/PE 90 was sold at that time (listed in Gun Digest) then it would have been prohib'd as well.

The liberals didn't account for new or out dated designs when they went on an OIC banning spree.
 
The rcmp admittedly claim they target rifles that are not numerous, the more that are bought and in private hands the more reluctant the rcmp are to mess with it, BUY ONE and fast. Oh, by the way I have a new one for sale in the EE for a decent price. Its the 1/7 twist which allows you to shoot heavier bullets more accurately

Hey thank you for the offer. I am actually working overseas for a few more weeks and plan on getting one immidiatley upon my return. They look just to awesome to pass up.

Plus I am not entirely sure yet how to get into the EE section yet as I am kinda new here. :D

Don't mean to degenerate this into a political melee but do you think that would happen? Don't you think the Liberals have learned their lesson? I think the LGR was one of the reasons the Liberals fell on their face. Don't you think that they would avoid the issue like the plague? Or am I being too starry eyed and optimistic?

Common sense would say yes, but when have the Liberals ever done anything firearms related that one could call "common sense?"

I'd like to hope you're right, but most compulsive liars lie less than the Liberal Party of Canada, so I will always assume they'll reclassify all semi-auto's and handguns to prohibited the second they get the chance. Even if they don't make it an active campaign promise, the second some nutjob kills someone with a gun, or there's too much handgun crime in Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary (with illegal handguns, of course) the Liberal answer will be to just ban all handguns. I will wager 100 bucks that if we had a Liberal Majority or maybe even a strong minority during the Dawson College shooting, semi-auto's would be prohibited right now. You simply cannot trust them to make good decisions.

The leftists will say anything to get power, but they're still the same old Marxists we've always known them as. They could promise to give us concealed carry and full auto's and I still wouldn't vote for them, they're liars.
 
At first it seemed that the democrats had learned their lesson and were leaving American gun owners alone, but it seems they have just resorted to outright treachery and lies. One can only hope that the libs will change, but I have my doubts.

Buy as many guns as you can while you can!!!
 
As long as the liberals openly cling to gun registration and gun grabbing it's a sign that they haven't come far enough in reforming their party and their priorities to a point where they could actually form government. The Liberal party is probably still decaying as we speak, excellent proof would be in their choice for interim leader.

That said, there shouldn't be any new orders in council under the conservatives. No new prohibitions for at least 3 years (probably longer).
