Hello all, I'm switching stocks on my Norinco M14, and I have a few questions that I was hoping someone might be able to help me with.

#1 I was wondering if there is a tool to get this screw out? If so, where do I get it?

#2 Anyone have any idea how to get this metal piece off the front end without nicking it?

Any help will be appreciated.

1. Make a tool. Start with a screwdriver, use a Dremel to cut the tip to fit. Or start with a scrap of steel, and file to fit.
2. Carefully pry it off.
No magic here, just take your time.

:agree:
except for #1. If you don't have the tool I have even seen people use 2 finishing nails and a vise grip. It works just take your time.

For the ferrule at the nose of the stock. A small flat blade screwdriver and carefully work it under the two indented areas and lift the metal. Then slowly work the ferrule off. If you bugger it up they are 7.50 at brownels , springfield stock ferrule.

For the stocl liner screws.
A tool can be purchased at brownells or...
Take a small pair of needlenose pliers and see if the tips fit in the screw holes. Dremel them to fit by making the tips smaller.
Or... Grasp 2 finishing nails , and using the head ends, lock the vice grips so just enough of the tips stick out, spaced apart enough to match the holes. Drill rod can also be used instead of finishing nails

How did you end up with a stock that has no liner and ferrule? What stock are you switching to?

you know those really cheep trigger locks that come with factory guns.. I had one from ....I think it was a savage .17hmr that worked....

some needle nose pliers might work as well...

question 2:

if you don't care about the poly stock at all just cut it out or, maybe heat up the part enough to make the plastic malleable...maybe be a dumb idea but a couple glasses of rye late and call me bubba

I was going to say a pair of snap ring pliers would probably work as well.

I've used all the above suggested methods and ended up scarring / scratching the circular button head. Just go slowly!

Anyways, I ended up buying a Stock Liner M14 Removal Tool from Brownell's for $ 9.00. No joking, the shipping cost way more! ha ha ha on me! While you are at Brownell's... buy a bunch more of common stock parts like screws, springs, ferrules, and sight parts; just keep yer order under $ 100 ! :D

Hope this helps the road to discovery!

Cheers mates!

Actual tool is called a pin wrench. Best idea is to make one out of a flat bladed screw driver, with a file. Snap ring pliers are not made to apply torque and that sucker is likely to be fairly tight.

Too bad, if you were local I could lend you my liner tool.

I tried several Red/Green methods and in the end I got the correct tool so I didn't damage the new stock.

Ok here it is... Turns out, I didn't need to pull those parts out in the first place. Stock is a USGI fiberglass one I got off of a fellow CGN'er. I thought they would be the same, and I would need all the parts off the Norc. Guess I should have looked at them more closely together. I haven't finished with the paint yet. I'm going to try and match the stock to the battlerail. Thanks for all the help guys...
