Anyone have some thoughts on this shotgun? I am in the market for a good first time sporting shotgun (trap/skeet/clay etc., I generally shoot pistols). Also what are the advantages of a 26" vs 28"? Thanks!

There are no advantages to a shorter barrel. Only benefit from a shorter barrel is if you do a lot of bush shooting.

The SXP line is a revamped 1300 speed pump. The only difference is the skirt it wears. Different stocks. They are proven guns. Only difference is the SXP line is made in turkey and not new haven USA.

I just bought one in 18", longer barrels are available. So far I like it, 5+1. I hope to get into three gun and maybe some grouse hunting.

Price was right $349 at LGS.

Shooting the clays it is very fast. Cleaning is super easy. I like the safety on the trigger guard.

I have no doubt this will serve me well for many years.

I have one and I love it! Its gotta have the smoothest pump that I've felt on a shotgun. The gas assist pump really helps with felt recoil as well. Only problem I've found is that with heavy 3 1/2 inch goose loads the gun has trouble loading them from the mag. Almost like its made to just barely fit the 3 1/2s and there's no room for error. Could've been my mistake also though. All in all a good gun, and the coating on the steel is surprisingly durable

Got one in camo 28", I shoot clays every week rain of shine, 100rds/week from sept to jan and 200rds/week from April to sept, 2-4 boxes of 3" and 3 1/2" duck and goose loads a year. not one problem after 2 years of this. Its my "take abuse gun".I actually had a bet with my buddy that it will still shoot/cycle fine after a year of no cleaning only bore snake it once a month. He lost the bet and decided to buy one after lol. Extremely easy to clean and field strip. After market chokes are everywhere,Cycling it is super fast( no trouble shooting doubles at clays. gun will eject target loads by itself, recoil ain't bad at all. Won't be parting with mine any time soon but Currently looking for a reliable/ cheap semi auto just in case I want to use a semi. You won't go wrong with the sxp

Bought mine 1.5 years ago and 1 of the action bars broke after about 11000 shells. If i can find some new iron it will work the very same as the day I bought it. They are excellent guns and you would not regret buying one. very easy to clean and very light on recoil. 28" all the way. factory chokes are sh!t, get some good after market chokes for it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Went to my local shop to pick one up the other day and they were sold out :( they were having a 10% off sale on firearms and sold 30 of them!
