SXS fired both barrels

Recently got a churchill 512 SXS with a single selective trigger, shot 3 rounds of trap with it and never had an issue.

Did some target shooting with it this weekend with heavier loads, both chambers loaded and in one instance it fired both barrels. The report was very odd, sounded more like a "bloop" than a "bang", recoil was extraordinary to say the least. I had no idea what happened until I cracked the gun open and found that it had fired both pipes.

Now, I don't discount the possibility that I may have inadvertently pulled the trigger twice under the recoil, but I really don't remember doing so.
Furthermore, the trigger is a good ~8lbs with around 1/8" of travel before it resets.

I've tried shooting countless more heavy loads through it and couldn't get this issue to pop up again.

Any tips on what I should be looking for?

I had a light 16 gauge S x S that only fired both barrels at the same pull when the shells were magnum loads... the first one fired caused enough 'shock' the second sear released... that cause a big recoil as it was one right after the other...

It requires a skilled gunsmith to confirm diagnosis and adjust it..

I have a Parker hammerless double with two triggers that would fire both barrels on occasion. There were two issues; one of the original sear springs had been replaced with a small plunger type spring and it was not pushing hard enough on the sear when the gun was being opened and the hammers cocked. I replaced the plunger with a slightly different one and that cured the problem. More importantly relative to you, opening the gun sharply was important because that cocked the internal hammer a bit further which allowed the sear to engage the full #### notch more completely which made it more secure when firing the first barrel
