Anyone use one for Turkey? I have an old SxS that is choked Full and Fuller. It also shoots where you point it. I have some 2 3/4" 3 1/4 Dram 1 1/4 oz # 5's (Kent's). Will this combo work? Or is it true that you need 3 1/2" Magnums to kill a Turkey.

Yes you need 3 1/2" cigars to kill a turkey. your gun must also have a pistol grip, AR-15 style stock with built in shell holders and a red dot electronic sight. Anything less is just out dated and we need to treat these birds with more respect with modern gear. :jerkit:

PS, where's the pics? I love SxS guns.

What about a flashlight and a Bayonet.

You need this at the very least. It should be considered the base point which to start at. Better make it a 10 gauge.

You need a 10G minimum to kill a turkey, and it usually takes 4 shots. You'll also need a 30" barrel.

Don't forget the ghillie suit and to douse yourself with doe urine.

AYA 10ga. SxS, 2 oz - 2 1/4oz handloads, #4 or bigger, copper plated shot with granulated poly. Factory loads, I just happen to have some Federal Premium 2 1/4oz factory 'stuff'.:D

I bought a box of 10 of the 3 1/2" Turkey Loads my first season. I went to pattern my 870, took a shot while sitting down, back against a tree:eek:. Well, I still have 9 of those shells left sitting in my safe. It's only 2 3/4" shells for me know! I have yet to see a Turkey with a Kevlar vest on in the woods:cool:, and they are not hard to kill if you get a couple of pellets in the CNS:D

You can kill a turkey with a baseball if you're accurate enough!

I've always used Win Supreme 2&3/4 inch mag #4's. Full choke. Taken them with my Remmy 870WM, and my Lanber O/U. Shot them anywhere from 10- 50 yards.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure sxs are responsible for several thousand turkey deaths in North America!

Dave.

I shoot mine with a 12ga Fox sterlingworth(c1909)and copper 5's. I even add a strip or two of that fancy camo tape to hide the shine (from lack of blueing) on the bbls. It was responsible for two turkey deaths last year and I'm sure yours will work fine.
