Hi guys,

My grandfather gave me a braendlin SxS shotgun, that has seen some better days. Like some of you I have chosen to restore it for sentimental reasons. Functionally the gun is in good condition, except, the forgrip is not attached to the firearm. Now the forgrip obviously has to be able to move up and down an inch or so when the barrel is crackd open, and I was just wondering what the piece loks like that connects it to the gun. Are they universal for most guns, or is each different (and where could a guy find one?).

In the middle of the forgrip there is a 1 inch slit or so cut out on the side that goes againt the gun, and then it matches up to another slit the same size on the bottom side of the barrels. So there must be piece that holds them together??? Not sure if I am painting agood picture for you guys. IF this makes no sense i can take some pics. Thanks guys,

If I read you correctly, you are missing the part known as the "fore end loop" or "barrel loop", which should be soldered into the slit on the barrels. It's not really a loop, more along the lines of a hook. The function of this part is to hold the fore end iron in place, which in turn holds the gun together.

You will not be able to buy a part, they are not standard. A gunsmith could make one, install it and fit it, but the labour involved may exceed the value of the gun. Hope this helps.
