I'm stuck between a Baikal Hammer Coach style and a CZ Hammer Coach. The CZ has a nicer looking receiver, but is also around $250 higher in price.

The CZ action felt smoother, but in the store I hate to judge to fast....maybe it needs a few shots and a good clean up to break it in. Both seem to be nice wood and tight fit at first glance. And can you believe both salesman said each was a great shotgun, maybe the best they had ever shot? lol

Is it worth it for the CZ? Upsides of either over the other, aside from price?

To me, the fit/finish + wood on the CZ appeared far superior in comparison to the Baikal (I owned a Baikal IZH43-KH for a while). However, I suspect the Baikal will fare better i.e. should both be used for heavy duty such as CAS. BBls are Cyl though on the KH model.

For occasional/light stuff, I'd go for the CZ....those are quite nice and also choked IC/M :).

Great! When you able to, let us know what patterns (birdshot) you get with those fixed chokes at 30 yds....I've always been interested in one.

So I finally got out playing with it the other day....super fun gun!!!

At 25 yards or so it'll put 4 shot into a 24 inch pattern on the side of an old furnace, car, etc...lol...(buddies farm yard)...not much different than his Stoeger semi, but I'm not sure which chokes he had in....he was 6 inches tighter maybe, but it's far good enough for me and the gophers it will likely see.

A little rougher than I expected recoil wise, but I'm so used to a Knoox now I'm a bit of a pansy.

Action is tight, and felt good, still a little stiff but that's alright...it'll loosen up in time.

All in all, I'm a very happy camper with this little CZ.
