SxS's: Beavertail or Splinter?

Which forend do you prefer on a SxS?

I own something like that on a 626 Onyx.....a semi beavertail. The shotgun is quite nice and fits me well hence the reason that it has survived so far at my disposal. Come to think of it, I had also briefly owned an SKB 200E and 280E with fat forends. :)

I must confess that up until my migration to North America I had never handled a shotgun with a beavertail forend or for that matter any slide action shotgun.

I voted splinter because most of my sxs are that configuration and I like the lines. That being said, I have a Beretta Silver Hawk 16ga with a Beaver-tail fore stock that I shoot better than most guns I've owned --- in fact I shot my first 50 straight at skeet with it. The measurements are the same as several of my other guns that I shoot fairly well but nothing like this one.
 
Depends. What dictates my personal preference depends on what game the shot gun is being used. On a light 12ga. or 20ga. for use on upland birds, I prefer splinter.

On my 3 1/2" 10ga. Mag, used on waterfowl, beavertail.

Seriously, I had both and there's nothing wrong with the beavertail, except its heavy and fat...like a beavertail.
 
I like a splinter. A buddy of mine has an Arietta with a semi-beavertail and I like it alot too. It flairs just enough to wrap slightly but doesnt go out past the barrel edges.
 
I like splinter forends with English stocks because it flows well and handles nice as a combo but a beavertail when it's a Prince of Wales or pistol grip which I can swing around faster with better grip.
