Sylvester road cleanup!

Well, I got up there and as far as I could get in was busy in the areas I could get to.
I passed MC2 on the way out again, said a quick hello and was on my way.
MC2, sorry If I missed any question you asked, I couldn't hear you well over your truck lol.

It was pretty busy in there today. Lots of guy in 4x4's and lots of shooters. I guess I should of shut the beast off so we could chat properly. :)

Was very disappointed to see that the Provincial Park sign was all shot to hell. I hate to say it but its only a short matter of time before this area gets shut down permanently.
 
I'm just new to the area and took a drive up there for the first time today with my wife, and we couldn't believe that every single sign was blasted to smithereens. I just don't understand what goes through some peoples' minds!

What time were you up there and what were you driving? I was in the military camo Mercedes truck.
 
These type things make it harder to get across to anti gun folks that gun owners are responsible. It might be better if it was closed rather than having a PR disaster sitting there like that.
 
Was out there a couple of weeks ago, some guy came up to me out of no where and starts talking to me and tells me he uses 30 round mags in his sks up there. 5 minutes later someone he was with starts shooting at my paper target that is on a big wooden stand I bring with me into the bush like it's his target...20 minutes later went out to change my target and had a few ricochets fly right by me. And best part is just as I decided I wanted to get the hell out of there and started packing all my stuff up a C.O. pulled up in his truck and started chatting with the people out there shooting. used to love going out there to shoot, I think that will be my last time though because it's literally a safety hazard and after that last trip I kind of feel that it needs to be shut down. it's unfortunate too because I own property very close to sylvester.

I live in Squamish , we used to have many nice shooting spots but since were so close to Vancouver many city thrill shooting ####tards that dont respect nature ruined the spots by bringing garbage to shoot like TVs, fridges, cars, RV trailers..you name it.. Its not locals doing it ..

Most good spots have been blocked off now , a couple weeks ago i was driving up a dirt road to one of the last good spots, there was a burnt car on the lower part of the road that i was driving toward , all of sudden i see bullets hitting the dirt about 15m in front of my truck !! there was a group of brown guys shooting at the car from the upper part of the road about 100m up the switchback !! So i reversed quick and went back down the road and waited for them to leave so i could get a plate number.. It also sounded like the were shooting un pinned mags , i could hear 30 rounds clearly being fired from one rifle .. How the hell do these idiots get PALs ? theres no hope for our sport with ####ing retards like this around .. The word is around here that the COs are setting up hidden game cams now at the last few spots..

As for these other comments...yeah its bad up there, to dangerous to shoot there now. Doesnt look good for us...makes me wonder was there always this many idiots with guns or is this a new thing thats happening? Is our new generation (which I am part of) a bunch of irresponsible disrespectful people who only think about themselves?

Last time i was up there i saw someone unload 10 rounds out of a SKS with the standard factory attached mag, seen restricted stuff, etc. as well, really i couldnt care less about this if there doing it safely. I would way rather come across someone using an unpinned mag, shooting safely and cleaning up after themselves than a group of people shooting legal stuff down a road toward oncoming vehicles, leaving shot gun shells everywhere, shooting signs, drinking and shooting,etc.

The better the weather the harder it will be to find a spot that is not in use to clean up on a weekend.
We should have a sponsored site type signage, kinda like they have for roads, maybe some of them that mess it up will get the hint lol.

While I admire your attitude of diplomacy it won't work. Spending money on signs is a waste because they have shot up every other government sign up there. The only way these people will get the point is if they are confronted with cameras in groups videoing them in the act and taking license plate numbers and having them charged or fined under the laws of this country. Then and only then will these people get the point.

Unfortunately though, they will just move somewhere else.

unfortunately i agree. its always been a stolen car dump site and has gotten to be a forgotten wasteland in the last ten years. its not even the same place it once was. dont get me wrong i respect all the work people put into the place but. the ya-whos will always intrude on the land and it might be better to keep them all in one spot. just a thought?
 
Just because people will continue to dump, doesn't mean I will give up on cleaning up and enforcement. It's my contribution to this hobby in a positive way. Other than my money to the CSSA, NFA and NRA.

Sadly it's a huge problem that not many want to take on.
I tried to get the ball rolling again and got the "It's a dump and will always be. We tried once. There is no point in trying to get together, we all have other things going on and just don't have the time" Feeling when I tried.
I'm not saying that's what others intended to come across as, but thats how it came across to me.
I was last up there on Fri the 7th of June, did my shooting, cleaned up all my own mess and took 1 bag of garbage from others out with me. I couldn't fit more in my vehicle or I would have.
Don't wait for others, just do your part and take out what you can.
You will go home with a good feeling that you, no matter how small, tried.
