Guess?
I do not want to offend an purists...:)...but I was wondering what people think of the Ramline stock for the M1? I was just thinking that I could save the worn original stock and use the synth. It is so easy to swap stocks, I can always switch back.

Worth it?

That isn't a bad idea, especially if you use your M1 under conditions that could result in damage to the original stock. You could also modify the ram-line stock in ways that you'd never want to to the original. If you've decided that this would be the best way to spend your money then I'd say go for it.

It doesn't alter the original, so I say: go for it!

I've handled a Garand with a Ram-Line stock, and I found it a bit on the light side. I'd get a nice recoil pad along with the stock if I were you... unless the newer ones come with it.

IMO, Garands with a nice synthetic stock set-up are dead-###y.

When I bought my M1 four years ago at a show, it came with a Ramline stock in addition to its original wood. I like the wood of course, but the Ramline is nice. Much lighter, thinner in the wrist and makes the old girl look 'tactical, black rifle'

I took it hunting too one year, but never again, even though the stock was nice, that baby is still darned heavy lugging around in the bush for 10 hours.
