Curious if anyone knows of a dealer who has an -250 dollar or less synthetic mauser stock on sale that is not the goofy steyr scout looking one?

I might bite the bullet on nice one from Prophet River but I would prefer a lower cost option at this point.

Thanks

A B&C might be your best bet. A bit more than what you want to spend but a whole lot better than an injected molded tupperware stock.

Downside of those that they are a bit heavy. Clay at PR will be very helpful getting you into one.

Back in the Black and White days of the 80s, International Firearms had something they called the Centurion using M1917 receivers with Pattern 1914 bolts for 300 Win Mag or M1917 bolts for 30-06. They had black crinkle finished injection molded plastic stocks. In my experience that plastic stock turned a near junker of a rifle into a credible hunting rifle. I think those stocks were Bell and Carlson. Look around and post questions because I'm pretty sure they made them for 98k Mausers.

^ junker to moose rifle is the plan

Any tips on fit for B and C stocks? What to look for in a rifle re safety etc?

The bedding is only as good as the moulds. I sold my 300 WM, but I do remember using JB Weld to fill in a few gaps around the receiver. A conventional wood stock will have wide flats as the contact surfaces, while the plastic one had small edges of the web. I decided that those were going to work like pillars.

I have one kicking around. Forget the brand but it's a large ring mauser ( 98) in a camo pattern. If you want to pm me an email I can send you pics. Iirc it's missing it's swivel studs but is untouched otherwise. I don't think it's ever been used

Have one of those P14 worked into 7mm rem mag. by Century Arms.Has the B&C stock and while heavy the quality is so much higher than the current cheap plastic on budget rifles. If you can go B&C you won’t be disappointed
