It sounds like they may have improved the magwell (at least on yours). I had a gen 2 and it took a bit of force to get the mag it came with in. I had a few CPD LAR mags and they all had to have the spine squeezed in a vice to get them to easily insert. Some of those would drop free after, but one still had to be pulled. I never tried any plastic mags in it. I never had any feeding or extraction issues with it. I had some fail to eject while running a brass catcher, but blame the brass catcher.

What were you running for sights? If it's the same as the one's on my Gen2, some of those are pretty good groups.

Leupold Freedom 1-4 also all mags dropped free nicely. I also had one incredible hero group 1 inch at 200 yards, but the next one at 200 was about 4 inches so may not be indicative of the potential accuracy of the carbine.

Turn off the gas system shooting groups & sighting in. Once dialled in, put the gas system on 1 and let 'er rip! :ar15:

4" at 200 is actually not bad considering this is an inexpensive semi auto. If you are going to reload for it, Jay's suggestion of turning off the gas and running single shot for load development and sighting in is a good one.

Appreciate this and am following. I told myself I’d never be interested in a bullpup but it’s 2020 and here we are :( I miss my SBRs very much and this is the closest I’ll get to shooting something that’s affordable and small in 5.56 legally for now.

Try to see if you can try shooting someone else gun before buying one. I had my Gen 2 for less than 2 months before I sold it. As I said it ran with no issues, but I just didn't like how it balanced and the bolt banging back and forth right under my ear was not something I could tolerate. Sold it and bought a WK 180. Keeping the WK.

It depends on what you want it for. The T97 gen 3 is not a high speed low drag suitable for gun competition that are shot against a timer. The safety position at the rear will add maybe a half second to disengage and the reloads will be a little slower. It is accurate enough from what I can tell it is easily 2 moa perhaps better with something it likes, and it is reliable.

Glad to hear mine isn't the only one crimping casings. Anyone have issues with the extractor or bolt crimping the casing when ejecting?

My gen two crimps every case on the way out in the same spot. None of my brass can be reloaded.

Unlike a bolt gun with free floating chassis, a semi auto, especially one with a skinny barrel hanging onto a push rod in a non-free float format, should not be tested or zeroed one round at a time with gas system shut off.

A lot of semi autos, especially those with skinny barrel, the POI tends to walk. It is a combination of not so good stress relief of the barre, barrel quality as well as the movement of the push rod. If you look at the old HK G36 fired by Ian in forgotten weapons, you can see the rounds walked and the POI shifted.

See those 1 round that went all the way to the top or the corner - those are not really just bad luck. These are inherited problems within the rifle. I could feed the same ammo to a HK that shoots perfect 10 round 4" group at 200m, and another rifle will throw this ammo with one or two 2MOA vertical flyers in a group. I am not saying T97 is bad, because a lot of other rifles do that as well, especially those with skinny barrels ( but not all of them).

I have also seen rifles that will shoot the first 5 shots in under 2MOA, but the groups expand to over 4MOA in a certain direction once the 6th to 10th shots were fired.

If you turn off the gas system and don't run the rifle like the way it would be used, you may not get the true group size and POI of the rifle.

Appreciate that. I almost bought one on impulse and remembered this post. I'm gonna actually go ahead and see if I can try one before I buy one as that kinda stuff definitely does matter to me. I have an MCR180 but I just really miss having an SBR but I also don't really feel like buying one if I'm not gonna actually enjoy shooting it.

Funny, testing a Gen1 someone put me on to 62gr fmj by Tula and it did quite well.
It seemed to like the slightly under powered ruski steel case stuff.
Loading to max powder levels is not always the answer.
