So, a T-97 followed me home :D, but shooting right handed (as a southpaw) with those iron sights doesn't agree with me. What are my options for one of those mounts? I see SFRC has them, but what else is available? Red dot or micro dot?? Sorry if this has been beat to death. TIA

I've been shooting mine left handed without any issues, have you tried it? Obviously you have to be mindful of the ejection port. That being said I wasn't about the factory irons and I bought one of the rails from Wanstalls to mount a small scope. Once I did some accuracy testing and load development (wanted to see what kind of results I could get before sinking that much money into the gun) I decided to just go ahead and order the FTU from T97.ca though. Gives much more options for mounting all sorts of sights and accessories.

I was going to go with one of the aftermarket rails, and stuff a small dot sight on top. However, I didn't like the inability to strip the gun completely with the rail being somewhat permanently attached to the factory mount position. I ended up getting one of the dedicated optics from a board sponsor that has the proprietary mount with a quick release. The sight seems quite nice, and fits the style of the gun very well. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but l like the end result.

FTU is the only way to go....otherwise your optic is mounted way to high to be practical. Irons or FTU....anything else will be a disappointment

The more I think about it, the more it's looking like ftu for me.

BTW, what's up with the rear sight aperature? There's a 1, 3, 5, and a little post.....is this for close and dirty just need a nub to sort of aim with?

You're asking the right question to the wrong people.

From what I've noticed, that nub disappears when the sights are lined up while you're focused on the front post but as soon as you move the two out of sight, even when focused on the front sight, the rear nub blocks your vision from seeing the front sight. I just got a Type 97 as well and I haven't been able to try it out yet but on Thursday I will be testing out the different sights.

I personally won't be putting an optic on this gun until someone starts importing the proper scopes that were meant for this gun. Buddies Type 97 there looks really good with that proper scope.

I know there is a native scope for the t97 being sold here. Are there native red dots? How well does a red dot work with the height, with a rail adapter? Seems like a red dot kind of gun, being so short.
