T/C Barrel quality?

I have some black powder barrels from T/C Hawkens kicking around. Is the steel in them "real" barrel steel capable of taking centerfire pressures if fitted to an appropriate action, or is it mild? I gather it's a toss up with various BP barrels, but I would have thought T/C would use the good stuff.

I have to admit, I haven't figured out the other practicalities, from bore diameter to contours, but I have to start somewhere.
 
I'd bet mild, based on pure financial speculation on my part.

That is to say, my speculation, says that the company made them out of the cheapest material that would meet the requirements of the mild pressures of black powder.

Gonna have some issues with twist rates to check on, too. If the twist is for round balls or a compromise rate, it will be far too slow to stabilize the heavy bullets that the BPCR types want to shoot, though they might work OK for the "pistol" type bullets.

Recommended twist rates for various calibers can be found, if you dig around online.

Spark test should tell mild from 4140 type of thing. I'm betting it's the good stuff because they make both modern and old, and it would just be a tragedy waiting to happen.

Rate of twist is low 1-48 but not round ball low.
