Are they any good? Looked at a used T/C Venture .308 that hasn't seen much use. Might get it for a family member. Didn't find much feedback on the net.

I bought a brand new TC venture weather shield camo from Pud a number of years back in 30-06 for peanuts off his specials page and it fits me better than any other rifle I've had, shoots lights out with the 5R rifling and is rock solid. Once a guy gets over the look of the thing its a functional, easy to one hand carry tool and more and more is the one I grab when I head out the door.

I wont be getting rid of it any time soon.

I have a T/C Icon and it is truly a nice firearm. The jewelled bolt is a low lift of 60°, further enhancing its smooth action most Tikka like. CNC-machined receiver action sits in a single-piece aluminium bedding block via three integral recoil lugs, giving strong solid bedding. It has a full-diameter bolt with three front-locking lugs. It also has integral Weaver-style bases built into the bridge of the receiver with adjustable trigger. This rifle reminds me very much of a Sako 85. At 100 yards it easily shots .500 or less with 175 TMKs.

what do you think this rifle is worth because I have a snow camo one I'm thinking about selling

I would look into parts availability first, unless it's really cheap. They've all been out of production for a few years IIRC, and it's not like they were super popular/ common. Also there's new ownership in place and a new production facility in the works (or maybe up and running i dunno).

Their website is pretty barren right now. No word on what platforms they intend to produce in the future, just "New Product Line Launching 2025".

The new ownership is actually the old owner from prior to their purchase by S&W

My t/c compass in 6.5 will put rounds through the same hole at 200 yards with factory ammo.

The stock feels really cheap and the forend flexes pretty easily. Some spray foam helps. I haven't found a way to stiffen the forend to my satisfaction yet.

The mag sucks. Gotta really manhandle the bolt to get it to work. I haven't found a good way to fix that since no one seems to make an aics mag well for them.

I use it as my back up and lend out rifle.

I saw that. But S&W owned them for the better part of two decades, and moved production, and then decided to let the brand go the way of the dodo...

I certainly wouldn't be banking on them bringing back the Icon or Venture, and even if they did would they be the same rifle with parts that would fit the older S&W made guns? Does the brand even own the rights to those designs or does S&W?

I guess my point is the new TC is a big unknown right now so it's best to assume no new parts are going to be made.

Depending on condition, caliber, round count and any accessories if present, a plain stock T/C Venture All Purpose Snow Camo rifle will still bring approximately $750.00.

New in the box, matching camo scope and rings, spare magazines, about $150.00 - $250.00 more. These models had a 5R fluted rifled barrel that were absolute tack drivers. The removable magazine is a similar design to a Tikka.

The bell shaped 60 degree bolt lift is an awesome feature. I would think we will see them again.

In saying that, the T/C Venture II model was not as good as the generation one model.

The only TC i've shot is a venture in .308 like you're looking at and i was very impressed. Side by side with a savage 110 and browning Xbolt it shoots the better groups of the three. The little things like safety, trigger, stock, etc are comparable to the savage with some plus's and minus's to both but very close with most.
There's nothing about it that turns it into a No for anything and it's hard to argue with the accuracy. I was even getting better groups with milsurp FMJ's with it than the savage or Xbolt with decent quality hunting ammo.
As long as it's not beat up or you're overpaying it's hard to go wrong with one.

My Venture in 30-06 is an outstanding rifle, and one of the most accurate guns I own. As previously noted, the 5R rifling and 60 degree bolt lift are excellent features. It's a very well built rifle that feeds, fires, and ejects extremely well. One of my better purchases.
