Does anyone else shoot a T/C Contender carbine?

I am constantly amazed at the accuracy of theses little rifles

I was at the club today shooting my s/s 21" factory tapered 223 barrel loaded with 25.5grs H322 powder and 40gr Hornady V-Max bullets @ 3440fps loads .

The scope on this barrel is a Burris Mini 3-9X ballistic plex which has the regular duplex reticle then 3 small dot on the bottom post.

This is a 300 yard group that I shot today the top 2 shots are with the 2nd dot down held at almost the exact elevation of the hits and the 3 shot group is with the 2nd dot held on the red dot.

All I can say is these are amazingly accurate little rifles...

I'm heading to Alberta next week I will definately have this rifle combo with me for them pesky gophers... :D

And yes I use these targets over thus the patches... :p

I have never shot an Encore but I hear that they can't keep them on the shelves they sell so fast.

I can't really compare a Contender with a Encore either an Encore can handle most high pressure rounds where a Contender is limited to lower pressures and is a way smaller gun weighing in at just over 5lbs.

Here is a picture of my Contender with the 223 barrel installed. :D

That .223 is a nice little gun, and I REALLY like the whole T/C system...it's simple and it works.
Where did you get the Contender BTW? I found Encores at Frontier Taxidermy, but haven't seen anyone carrying Contenders yet. I'm thinking about an Encore for myself...

Camp Cook that is a nice looking rifle. :)

Yah the one I handled was a Encore pro hunter, 28" Stainless with fluted barrel.

My plan is to save up the coin, clear out the safe of the stuff I don't use and get two Encores in 6.5x55 Swede. One for me and one for my wife. :)

I bought the one in the pic 14 years ago as a 30-30 for my son when he was 10 years old from Hub Sports in Abbotsford BC since then I bought 4 more barrels...

I rechambered the 30-30 to a wildcat 308Bellm (308WinX444) then bought 3 barrels directly from Fox Ridge Custom Shop in a 22LR match chamber/10mm/45-70, I bought the 223 barrel used and possibly never fired from a fellow CGNTZ member in Summerland (awesome deal thanks) and then I bought an identical used rifle but chambered in 375 Win and now it is rechambered to 375JDJ from another CGNTZ member in NFL this last Dec.

I did all of the purchases from the States when it was still ok just to ship across the border.

Even with the camo tape on it... :p

Buying one of these T/C Encore/Contender/G2 single shot rifles is a slippery slope you will start looking for barrels on the EE and every where esle you go then the next thing you know you have another barrel on the way that you also have to set up with sights/bases/scopes/fore end...

If I were to get an Encore my first barrel would be a short fluted s/s chambered 460 S&W (I have so many 45 Colt and 454 Casull bullets loaded up now and would love to have some 460s as well) second barrel would be a 243 Win and I would rechamber it to 6mm-284 for long range predator hunting and there would definately be a 45-70 barrel and a 375 something on man now look what you started...

Starpuss what make of scope base's are you using?

I am now switching over to MGM (Match Grade Machine) bases.

I have about 6 barrels also.
I do have the 460S&W barrel St. fluted, just waiting for dies.DAN>>>

With my heavy/top 45-70 Contender loads I have had problems with the aluminum bases banging/denting up the front of the cross slots resulting in the scope getting lifted up slightly so its no longer sighted in properly.

Since I went to the MGM stainless or blued scope bases I haven't had the problem any longer the only thing I have against the MGM's is that there is only one cross slot for the rear scope ring which doesn't allow me to adjust the scope further forward if I wanted/needed to.

I only have this problem with the 45-70 and now 375JDJ so I just bought some black/gray laminate butt stocks that allowed me to cut them longer which resulted in a longer eye relief just a little more expensive way to go though.

Dizzy D if your ever thinking of selling that Encore with the 460 barrel at a good price and if it is S/S pm me I maybe interested... :D

this scope base is the best one out there. if you want they will make you a steel one for 65+-$ , also if you want they will drill out 2 more screw holes for you. so you can have 6 holding it.

and i am ordering 5 more of them from them next week. 500s&w i am geting :)
i have got well over 20 scope mounts from them and all my customers love them. never had one brake. or slip[

I've been thinking that if the Lieberals ever get back in as the federal government of Canada they are going to start confiscating our firearms.

Here's my theory their already talking banning handguns and semi-auto's which tells me that bolt/lever/pump actions will be next, maybe we'll have a few single shots that they won't go after...

they cant ban whats not registered. buy antique guns :) (handguns) before they change the laws on them.
