how many people shoot these? ive been intrigued by the ability to switch barrels ect and the fact that the guns have a lifetime warranty is a good sign that its quality

im looking for a varmit/target rifle (200-300 yards) and wondering how a t/c would stack up against say a tikka.

also what is the price on these?

T/c

I can't comment on the G2 but the encore has so far impressed me. I bought a .223 bull bbl because they are only 7lbs which is light for a varmit gun, I shot about 100 ground hogs with it this summer and about 70 shots on paper with 45gr win factory loads and a bunch of hand loads. It will shoot under 1" at 100 yards and my longest hog was 390 yards. I have plans to buy the .204ruger bbl and I have already ordered a 12ga turkey bbl. The trigger is a bit heavy but can be tuned up. I paid around $900 for mine, its s/s with a black stock, SIR in winnipeg has the blued version for $773,overall I like it and the the bbl options are a cool feature.

only 900? done.

i had heard the trigger was heavy but other than that a good pull. i was looking at a .223 barrel to start with. what is the difference between the encore and the contender? only thing i could tell from the t/c site was that it was capable of shooting larger caliber bullets

The contender is much smaller and lighter, handles like a typical .22 rimfire while the Encore is a full-size rifle. Until recently the Contender was the only one that could also handle rimfires (using a switch on the hammer to determine which type of cartridge was being used) but I now see that the Encore has rimfire barrels available for it.

looking at the t/c catalog seems that there is more options for barrels for the encore, i know there is after market for pretty much any caliber but i like factory if possible.

I checked and to be exact it was $909. The encore has a much larger frame and stronger action,it also has alot more bbl options factory and otherwise. I know you said you like factory but check out bullberry they among others have some pretty cool stuff. If you want a 223 I would go for the encore, the G2's smaller action springs under recoil and tends to allow the cases to strech beond max oal. Which means that you have to bump the sholder back and case trim for every reload and the case life sucks as a result. The contender action was a handgun to start with so the high pressure loads push it a bit. The trigger is totally tollerable and really is not that bad (around 4.5lbs) its just a little heavy for me. Stateside they love both guns and as a result they have a ton of toys for them. I hope that helps you a bit.

I purchased the Encore 209x50 SS w/black syn. stocks two yrs ago, since then I've switched stocks to a thumbhole and picked three extra barrels;
300WM(blue, heavy 26"), .204 Ruger(same as .300WM) and just recently a SS 24" .308 w/rifle sights.
I love this set-up and look forward to possibly adding a rifled slug & a .22 rimfire bbl in the future. My trigger breaks at 3.5 lbs which is decent enuf for my applications, the only other addition might be getting the 300 bbl ported?
My best investment so far has been my Encore, Thanks Bro!
