Was considering getting one in .460S&W and possibly another barrel in .45-70govt.
Who's got one?
I am reading mixed reviews about the ability of the fore-end fitting on other barrels.
Thoughts / experiences?

I have one of these rifle barrels for my pro-hunter frame.

I use the same fore-end for my 45-70 Katadin barrel as I do my 7 rem mag barrel.

I absolutely love the Katadin 45-70 barrel!
Such an easy package to carry around the bush!

I am shooting 420 grain large metplat, cast bullets at 1350 fps. This is the max charge that is still enjoyable for me to shoot comfortably with no restrictions on weather I shoot 10 or 40 rounds.

I find that loads that produce more than 1500fps tend to compress the Flexing butt stock to the point it effects how the rifle recoils.
Just too much to enjoy.

I have found zero advantage to pushing the 45-70 past 1350-1400fps. The kills seem the same at 1800fps.

My Katadin barrel shoots around 1-1/4” or better at 100 when shooting the cast bullets around1200-1400fps.

Hope this info helps.

I have one in 460s&w. Its very nice to carry as its so short! I prefer it over my 45-70. I havnt shot anything with it yet, but think it would make a sweet srand gun for WT :)

Very nice! How long have you had it / where did you get it? Am in process of sourcing one now...

I have had it for 3 or 4 years. I wanted one bad as I also have a S&W revolver in 460. I ended up finding components- frame, barrel and stock’s separately and putting it together. Not a huge fan of the camo stock, but it was all I could find at the time. Stock and frame I found on the EE here and the barrel I got from a fellow that deals with barrels... His company is called NINE35.

I have a Katahdin barrel in .500 S&W for my Pro-Hunter and it's a decent enough shooter - actually it's a tack-driver with Rem 385gr JHP's but a bit of a beast for recoil, but since I'm shooting whitetails at under 100m I mostly shoot 400gr cast FPGC over 18.5gr of TiteGroup for somewhere in the 1400 FPS range and 1.5" groups at 100m.

If I can find a .45-70 barrel to match, I'll move my NEF Handi-Rifle down the road...

I've sourced a .460S&W barrel: problem now is I can't find stock on new or used (including the EE) for a TC encore/pro hunter rifle or frame assy. Anyone have any leads on one?

The front stock on the Katahdin are supposedly different. I have the regular one on mine. It seemed to fit just fine and my 460 shoots just fine. I have heard of stock issues causing inaccuracies..... You should buy the barrel, but you will have to watch the EE like a hawk for the rest and probably not dicker on the price or it will be gone!!!!! Brass is easy to find. You will love it!

Yes I am contemplating it; just concerned finding a frame / rifle may be an issue. Not worried about brass as I have lots. Like you, I want it to compliment my revolver!
