T/C Encore stock confusion?

I've had a T/C Encore and a G2 Contender, along with several barrels for each, for awhile now and have been generally satisfied with them. Recently I saw a new Encore with a .300 Win Mag barrel for sale at Bass Pro Shops in
Vaughn, and since I was interested in the caliber and the price seemed very good ($679 new, plus I had some gift certificates to use up) I bought it. Took it home, tried it out behind the barn, shot pretty well. Yesterday I had both Encores out at once, and only then noticed that the stock on the newer one is much shorter and has a very slender, less meaty profile through the grip area. Further comparison seems to show that this Encore is wearing a stock identical in size and profile to the one on my Contender. WTF? I haven't tried removing and switching the stocks yet, but I must say I'm kinda pissed. I sure don't need an inch or so less LOP on a .300, or any other caliber for that matter. I've emailed T/C and am waiting for some word.

Anybody have any similar experience with them? And please, don't suggest going back to Bass Pro. The fact that I managed to buy a gun from them only shows that I really, really wanted that gun. Taking one back? The horror!

T/C did make a bantam buttstock that is approximately 1.5 inches shorter than their regular buttstock. I wonder if you ended up with one of those? It was designed for youth and smaller-framed shooters.

Just a quick heads-up for anyone contemplating an Encore purchase. I finally received a reply from their customer service department, informing me that all new-production Encores are now equipped with this shorter, thinner-profile stock. This could be an issure for taller shooters, or those whose longer arms or necks call for a long stock. Scope bites maybe?

I also think the newer style is less attractive (almost a dead ringer for the Contender stocks, but non-interchangeable), but that's just personal opinion.
