Seen a couple threads asking about these so can share this from today.

T/C Icon All Weather in .308
150gr Speer SPTZ BT and 150gr Hornady SST
R&P range brass. 2.8 OAL. CCI std primers. Varget.
Front and rear bags
4 shot latte an hour earlier
200 yards? was at Mission, don't know if yards or meters.

Shot 1 fouler. Let rifle cool between groups of 3 shots. Shot 45.3gr, 45.6gr & 45.9gr round robin style and 46.2gr as a group.

Conclusions:
SST good, SPTZ BT bad - though admittedly there is .8gr left before max so there may be a node higher up that works for the Speers (though max is compressed)
SST 150gr 46gr Varget offers sufficient accuracy
Drop 100 to 200 is ~1.75 MOA
  • Speers were shot at top row, landed middle row and also bottom left.
  • Adjusted up 2.25 MOA shot Hornady at top row and also bottom right.
No need to clean strings under 20 (last group of SST 46.2gr still sub MOA).

The 150gr Speers had shot well out of a Rem 700 5R (1:1.25) thus had hoped that these would work well for the Icon too (1:10, also radiused rifling) but alas.

I would try some bullets. I have never had any luck with Hornady SST's but have always had great sucess with Nosler Acc-bonds and Nosler CT's.

May try 168gt TSX (shoot those in a .300WSM).

However am happy enough with .85 MOA (45.6gr), .56 MOA (45.9gr) and .65 MOA (46.2gr) MOA measured as outside to outside less .3 (as .308) and divided by 2 (as was 200 yards/meters).
