i just recieved my r,pal but ive paid for a rifle since way be fore xmas.the said rifle was suppose to be a savage w/w 3006 accustock acutrigger . but they couldnt get it in in that caliber.now i have permission from the liberal domain.
i went to dealer yesterday they still didnt have the savage in .so they showed me a tc icon ws is this a better rifle , please bare with me as im a middle aged idiot new to sport ,

I have an icon in .300win and it's a great shooter. Less than an inch at 100yds with factory hornady ammo. The weaver scope bases are integral to the reciever which is also a nice feature. The only con is that they are a bit heavy.

Could be better but there is nothing wrong with the Savages either. I was a huge TC fan before S&W bought them out. Now I tend to shy away from new TCs. Just my personal preference.

If I were you I'd check with some other dealers to see if they have the Savage you want in stock. If so, get your money refunded by the first dealer and buy form the other.

The Tc Icon is a very nicely built rifle. They put in some very nice features, and it both looks and shoots great. It is a bit heavy for my liking, but it is not a "heavy" gun. With the savage you get an inexpensive, ugly gun that shoots the lights out. With the Icon you get a nice, good looking gun that shoots excellent, but costs more.
My thoughts, for what they're worth.

Are a nice rifle:
  • 5R rifling (first three shots I did with mine at 100m all touched using cheap corelokt ammo)
  • Integrated bases
  • Bedding block
  • Flat based receiver
  • 3 action screws / locking blocks
  • Adjustable trigger
  • Bolt lock (undoes when move safety to fire)
  • Center feed detachable mag.
  • Free floated barrel

Got a bit marred up pushing through bush, bit of G96 on a cloth and came out as new.

Only negatives are forestock a little flexible and a little heavier but if in .300WSM then would have happily paid more for it than the X-Bolt stainless/stalker.

Am actually annoyed with it cause its more accurate than my target rifles.
