I am thinking of getting a varmint barrel for my T/C Pro hunter 209x50.

It seems to shoot well 1.5" @ 100 yards with the muzzle loader barrel on.

I am wondering what experience you guys may have with .204, .223 or 22-250 barrels on these things?
I want an accurate shooter for target and coyote use, and If these things aren't consistently accurate, I will just buy a decent rifle and leave the muzzle loader as is.

Let me know if you use hand loads or factory rounds (I will reload).
Thanks in advance

Hey Ski, I love my Encore!! I have a .308 and 22-250 barrel. The 22-250 will shoot six shot one ragged hole groups at 200 yards. At 300 I can hit the 6" gong everytime. I reload with Hornady 55grn fmj and 52grn amax I use either h380 or Varget powder. I am a gunsmith that specializes in Encore and contender(will work on anything though) and I've got a nice crisp 3.5# pull on it now. it's great for the bush too, even with the 26" and 28" barrels it's still shorter than most carbines. You can't go wrong!! But thats imho

I have an encore in 223. Will shoot 3 into a ragged hole @ 100. Thats as far as I have tried so far. It shoots alot of types of bullets the same but it won't shoot 53 gr barnes tsx
Great accurate guns. I also had a 375 H&H and a 270. Also very accurate

I love my 25/06 pro hunter barrel on my encore frame. It shoots 1 inch groups at 100 yrds without a proper rest, and the cheapest factory ammo I could find. I suspect it would equal that of the last two responses provided a steady rest and some decent ammo.

I was very happy with my trigger from the factory. Very crisp, and maybe down the road I will think about lightening up the trigger pull. For now you probably couldn't slap the smile off my face.

My .223 barrel loves Federal AE 55gr FBHP. It does not like anything over 62gr. Pinkynail sized 5 shot groups at 100yds. 2.5# trigger using Bellm stuff, Gettel pillar forend. I have a new Bergara .243 to try also, I hope it likes 55gr projectiles.

I am just getting into the Encore game and have yet to get another barrel to compliment my .50. I typically do a lot of research before buying a gun and usually there are some select people who have had bad experiences with their gun but with Thompson Center it was pretty hard to find any. I think there was one guy who had trouble with his pin moving. Other than that there was only praise for accuracy. There is a reason why the guns aren't cheap.

I just got up a 300 Win Mag for Christmas from my wife (guess she wants me gone more!!) and have yet to shoot it. Going to load 185 Bergers for it. Hopefully it will shoot. May have to reach out and touch some coyotes too!!

I got mine and put a few down range... pretty much what I hoped for, three 5 shot groups averaging 1.062", not bad for factory loads. (Winchester bulk pack 45gr).

I think I am going to sell her anyways though, I got a rifle to match my .270 wsm but in 22-250 and I don't need 2 coyote rigs, so ... away she goes.
