Any opinions on these? Who has the best prices on them?

I want a new 22 for plinking/small game....the old Cooey 60 is getting kinda tired. I've been looking at everything from 10/22's to Sako Quads/Finnfires and Anschutz but decided that I really want a semi auto and the R55 seems to be a good step above the Std 10/22. Any other suggestions?

I'm not familiar with them but I would imagine there is a fair bit of info on Rimfire Central.

Any opinions on these?

The R55 series is an awesome factory .22rf. With a few caveats....the first generation models tend to have failure to fire issues as they wear in (odd light strikes) , you need to use their TC scope bases and the Benchmark HB is particular on the ammo it likes, the more expensive the better. The 2nd gen models are better (camfered bolt and slot cut behind extractor) on the light strike issue.

Having said that, I'm quite happy with my R55 Benchmark. Its superbly accurate, with a decent crisp trigger, last shot bolt hold open, generous laminated stock and robust single stack mags.

The R55 is what a 10/22 should have been out of the box.

have had the classic version for two years .a+ they are excellent .takes a while to break in though around 600 rounds and then keep it clean! good accuracy comparable to bolt action.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been hemming and hawing about the R55 vs 10/22 and am definitely leaning towards the 10/22. Seems to be a standard addition to any collection. I've always regretted selling my old one and that put me over the top; gotta put one back in the safe. ;)
