I'm don't need it as a brake
I just don't care for the plastic thread protector. I don't count on it to add much if anything to the accuracy but, I don't want it to take away from it. Any reasonably priced suggestions?

I'd buy a Tuner instead, give you some adjustment for improving accuracy. Cost ca $200-ish.
This right here ☝️. IMHO it's money well spent. I don't think your be disappointed with the end results. There's a couple for sale right now goonpost if you want to save a few bucks.

I put a DIP compensator on mine for fun and it is cheap. Hated that little plastic protector. Not using my T1X for anything other than gophers so the compensator tidied up the front end. Cannot really say about any changes in accuracy. Tuners are for benchrest guns. It is a Tikka. It just shoots well. And yes I was able to handle the recoil before LOL.

What it does to the gun look and walking the scope sighting in which shows it does not affect accuracy. And for those out there questioning the number of shots, it is a .22. It does not cost that much to have fun.

I am quite sure that it is 1/2-28 that you want. I have a CZ 455 on which I put one of their "compensators" 1/2-28 are the most commonly available, however my barrel, a CZUB, had 1/2-20. I did eventually find one.

Mine gave me a bit of extra weight out front, which it needed, and being the same diameter as the heavy barrel looks great. I found no perceptible change in accuracy, either good nor bad.

People say that these compensators "strip" super sonic gas away from the projectiles. Who knows, I don't.

What I do know is that it seems to have made my rifle quieter (not what I expected). My friend and I often shoot 100 yards side by side. He has a 455 with a CZ-USA barrel (1/2-28 thread) with no compensator. We both shoot TAC-22; his rifle is at least 50% louder than mine. He is a bit better shot than I am but groups are comparable. most days.

CZ Compensators are inexpensive. I just looked, now everyone has 1/2-20 in stock and no 1/2-28s. LOL, Tesro has them for $35.00, Thread adaptors are not expensive.

I'd add a Spearhead tuner, maybe the brake model if you want that, as it adds a chunk of weight and may also help with accuracy.

(Canadian company and site sponsor, too!)

I found that my T1X shot well , but was a bit ammo picky . So , I installed an MDT Elite brake ( 1/2 x 28 ) to see what effect it had on barrel harmonics . Obviously , there is no need for recoil reduction with a 22LR , but , barrel harmonics are everything . Success . The added weight on the end of the barrel had a significant and instant positive effect . It's now far less ammo picky and the ammo that it liked previously shot noticeably better . Looks cool too :) . 5 shot groups at 50M off the bipod are typically in the low .200's with good ammo and often times better . It's hard to argue with that for the reasonable costs involved .
