I have not seen this comparison before, but I had a chance to play with both rifles today. So here's the question. For an out of the box rifle, not a custom PGW or ATR, or and AI, TRG, 40X or anything like that. Who likes what better. The Tikka T3 Tactical or the Savage 10FP-LE2B. After looking them over for well over 2 hours today, and without getting the chane to shoot them, base one the general feel, trigger and looks, I would take the Savage myself. Remember, only these 2 rifles, nothing else, which one do you like better?

the savage shoots damn good out of the box, the accutrigger is pretty cool, but the standard stock is kinda crappy. the action has some slop to it aswell. now the tikka has a nice solid feel to it and a nice smooth action, but i am not sure about the tacticals trigger..

on that note i am very happy with my savage.

Both have pros and cons. The Savage is very accurate out of the box, the Accutrigger does make for light trigger pull, but the stamped tin it is made of bothers me. The McMillan stock however is awesome. Not fond of the blind mag though.
The Tikka also shoots well out of the box, the trigger while not as light on pull , to me feels more precise. The stock is not great and I despise all the plastic that is used, including the mag. I am not strong on the recoil lug arrangement either, being old school, I think the lug should be a solid part of the action rather than an after thought that is not truly part of either the action or the stock.
service is another issue, Savage has great service if needed, Tikka has none

If you step up to the LE2B over the standard model there's no comparison. The Tikka has all kinds of cool doo-dads (muzzle brake:rolleyes: and adjustable cheekpiece that you can guarantee to have fiddled with and have in th wrong spot) but the McMillan stock is the zenith of stock design, without getting into the A4/A5 styles which have quite a following. I think the LE2B stock is the right configuration withouth all the extraneous ####e on it.

I've got the LE2B. Sold my Remmy 'cause IMHO this is a better rifle. MacMillan Stock, excellent trigger... worth the $1100 price tag considering the stock is around $800-$900 CDN. Strange thing though. It groups like ####e at 100m... Like 1.5". However, its 1.25" at 200m and 1.5" at 300m 1.75"-2.25" at 400m so I don't mind. This could be from the 1 in 10 twist... Maybe its not stablizing until after 100m? Or maybe its just me

skooch What are you feeding it?? you may want to try either different bullets or altering you seating depth assuming you are growing your own ammo. 1 in 10 will stabilze 150 gr and up no problem in most 30 cal rifles

TRG baby! all the way, and strangely enough I have mine for sale. ;)

actually I got to look at a T3 the other day, much prefer it to the Savage, a bit more money, but it seems more solid.

I have compared my LE2B to my buddies T3 and my view is that I made the right choice.

The T3 is a nice rifle, I just like my Savage better :D

I had a chance to look at and play with both the other day. I am not buying either, but I just wanted to know what others thought. I much prefered the Savage just from holding it. I know that both guns have their pluses, but when it came to the stock, which is a very important part, the T3 does not even come close to the A2 on the Savage. good thread guys, thanks for the input.

I've never shot the T3 but I have played with one at the range. It's a fine rifle but I 'm happy I chose the Savage.
The McMillan stock on the LE2B can't be beat for an out of the box rifle. The Savage action is no where near as smooth as the Tikka but it's very tough and well built. Personally, I don't mind the blind mag as I single load any way. I hate the cheap plastic follower, the only downfall of thr rifle IMO.
I know some Savage owners have had feeding/extraction issues with their rifles. Mine had a weak extractor spring from the factory. I really like the Accutrigger too, again for an out of the box rifle I think it's ahead of the competition.
I shoot the Hornady 178gn Amax over 42.3 gn of IMR4064. I haven't chrony'd it yet but it's sub .5 MOA @ 100yds.
I shot a 49.4 @ 600 yds this year at Borden so the rifle can shoot.
