T3 Rings

I bought a tikka t3 in 6.5x55 the other day and a bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16 x 42. The rifle currently has weaver bases and burris rings, but 1 inch, not 30mm like the new scope.

What rings should I get? Will medium height still work for a 42mm ? I'm guessing yes.

Should I get different bases ?

I'll be deer hunting with the gun. I prefer my optics mounted low for a good cheek weld.

Let meet know what you think. In case you can't tell I'm no expert on mounting optics.

Burris, Leupold and others make rings that are 30mm and work with the Weaver bases.

Call Talley, let them know what combo you have and they'll tell you what ring height to use. BTW, Talley makes nice ringmounts for your T3. Prophet River carries them.

The med Talleys lightweights would work I'm sure, you might even get away with the low ones.
I have the Med 30mm ones on my T3 Varmint with a 6-24X50 Viper PST and has more than enough room.

Me, I like the Optilocks...thats what I have on all my Sako m75 and Tikka T3 rifles. Solid as a Rock.

Can't go wrong with the talley's. I messed up when installing mine by accidently using the ring screws in the base spot. I basically wrecked the threads on the screws. I emailed Talley and they sent me out new screws immediately. I wanted to pay but they refused and covered the shipping and new screws. Great customer service.
