I recently purchased a Tikka T3 Battue Lite. This is to be my nice short and light bush gun for deer hunting. Went to sight it in yesterday and was a little disapointed because we kept shooting low.

My question is how should l be orienting the sights. There is a forward center red fiber optic dot. The rear sight is two green fiber optic dots. Should the center red dot be level and centered with the green dots. Anyone have one of these rifles?

Thanks

Those fancy sights are good for one thing, the garbadge. Moisture gets between the movable part of the back sight and the ramp it's on, then it freezes and expands and... then it breaks. Even if they are made of metal they are still garbadge since all you can see is those 3 dots, cant see the target. ever shoot a deer with those sights when it's really sunny outside? if there is snow on the ground it gets even worse.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of them. Buy plain iron sights.

To answer your question, well, same thing as what Gibbs said :D

Edit: Welcome to the boards TJPete!! :D

The rear sight is adjustable, but before I start mucking with that I want to make sure I am using it correctly. Tikka says that it comes sighted flat to a 100M.

Good to be onboard, thanks.

If there's one thing I know about guns its open sights, all my guns have only open sights or a bead for the shotguns, I only shot once from a scope. Opens sights are very straightforward so dont be afraid to play around with it. and you could allways put it back to where it was (mark it with something to remember where it was if you're worried). Raise the back sight a bit and try shooting it again till you get it perfect. Just make sure you screw it on tight again when you're done, you dont want it falling off while walking through the woods. And yes the red dot should be level and centered with the green dots.

Have fun :D

The sights on the Battue are VERY FUNCTIONAL and good quality... they are fine enough to allow for accurate shooting and very fast in low light.
What wieght ammo were you using and what range were you shooting at?
